Olivia's 4th Birthday Party

Olivia decided awhile ago that she wanted a balloon themed birthday party. So, that is what she got!

The decor was easy - balloons everywhere! I used my display boards covered with fabric and the little baggies filled with round candies did double duty as decoration and as prizes for the games.




The first game was the balloon stomp. I printed out colored shapes on pieces of paper and stuffed them into balloons that we blew up. Then we threw them out into the yard and the kids stomped on them to pop them and try to find matches of the shapes.

Another game we played was "pin the nose on the clown".




After last year's cupcakes, I had to go for simple balloons of fondant on top of each cupcake.

I found these great face stickers to make balloon faces as another activity.

The Pumpkin Patch 2009

Once again, we trekked to the pumpkin patch. We are lucky to live near a really fantastic pumpkin patch - Bates Nut Farm. However, bear in mind that it was 93 degrees here in Southern California that day. The temperature shift each day here, in the fall, is about 30 degrees. So, we wake up and get dressed and it is 60 degrees, nice cool weather that warrants wearing long sleeves. Then, by 11 am when we were leaving the pumpkin patch, it was in the 90s and the girls were literally melting. Crazy.

The hay maze was fun for the kids, but we started to get really, really hot!






Georgia always really wants to get the biggest pumpkin she can find.

Finally, the perfect pumpkins are chosen, and poor old Dad has to carry them out.

A whole month? Really?

Has it really been an entire month since I have updated this blog? (hanging my head in shame)
Wow - life has been so busy! There was quilt market and then Olivia's 4th birthday party, a trip to the pumpkin patch, then halloween, then a November that has seemed busier than usual, then Georgia's 7th birthday party this past weekend, and now we lead into Thanksgiving week. Whew.
Sweet Funky Vintage has had a great fall season, and wait until you see what we have in store for Spring 2010! We are working on a catalog, as well as our spring trunk samples. We are streamlining and we are really excited about what is coming! Right now, we are gearing up for Market Days 2009 in Tallahassee, Florida. It is the big craft market that we participate in each year. We will have some really fantastic things to offer you there, so be sure to stop by our booth December 5th and 6th.

More from Quilt Market 2009

I know I said I would share more about quilt market and a whole week has passed since I made the promise to share more tomorrow, but wow - what a week it has been! I have been on the school carnival planning comittee, planning a BIG school carnival for the past 6 months or so and the carnival was this past Saturday. And, crazy person that I am, I scheduled Olivia's big 4 year old birthday party for the next day! So, needless to say, I'll be working on playing catch up quite a bit over the next week or so!
Quilt Market was a whirlwind trip for me and Liz. We had so much planning and fabric shopping to squeeze into such a short period of time. But, as usual, we managed to pull it off!

One of our very favorite booths to visit each year, is Melly&Me, a fabulous pattern designer from Australia. They have the most fun little critters and we always fall in love with the little guys on display. We wish we could take them all home with us. But, we always take some new patterns home with us. This year, they even had a new book on display! I can't believe I don't have any pictures from their booth itself, just of Melly and her guy with his "man bag"!






We spent some time visiting the Windham Fabrics booth. We checked out all of the new lines, and were very impressed! We had been asked by Bari Ackerman to create a sample for her new fabric line and were happy to create a patchwork skirt for her.






Of course, we HAD to visit with our very favorite fabric designer (and all around fun lady to know) ever - Paula Prass, and her uber-fashionable and fun daughter, Jenn Storey. We bought some of the new line and cannot wait to use it!






As the co-leader of my daughter's daisy girl scout troop, I was delighted to see that Robert Kaufmann provides licensed girl scout fabrics and kits! How cute is this fabric??!!
