Room Mom? Valentine's Day Class Party Ideas!

Being a room mom for many years for my girls, I am always on the look-out for great class party ideas!  I ran across these and saved them for later... maybe you can use them too!

When it comes to party planning, nobody does it better than One Charming Party. Here is the Valentine class party they shared on their blog - awesome!

This site shares party hat ideas from paper plates - for every holiday!

I know I shared Bingo the other day, but I had to include it here since Bingo is my go-to class party game if there is extra time!

For older classrooms, these Mad Libs are perfect!!

Make and Takes is a great blog with tons of good ideas - she pooled together these great Valentine class party ideas:

Letter Match - pair up upper and lower case letters - great for lower grades!

Heart Lei made with yarn, straws and hearts!

Giant Tic Tac Toe - use posterboard and handmade felt hearts for the playing pieces. Make a few and you can have 4-6 kids playing at a time!

Three pipe cleaners and each kid gets a new pair of glasses to take home!

Put these together and the kids can put theirs together and then trade with another student for even more fun!

 

Monster Mash Part 3 - More Halloween Fun!

My girls are so excited about Halloween approaching!  We have decided on and ordered their costumes, so I think, hopefully, crossing my fingers, that we are all set for the big day!  I won't spoil the surprise of what they decided to be, so I will share that info later, along with pictures!

How stinkin' cute is that?! And, it doesn't look too hard to make!

Will you be having a Halloween Soiree this year? Yah, me neither. But, if I were, I would totally make these cutlery packets!  They rock - and they are a free printable! Yahoo!

And if I were having a rockin' Halloween party - I would totally channel my inner Martha and make one of these pumpkin coolers!

If you and your spouse are attending a costume party - here is a pretty funny costume idea!

It wouldn't be to difficult to make it out of felt...

Monster Mash Part 2 - More Great Halloween Ideas!

As I often volunteer to be a room Mom for my daughter's classrooms, I am always on the lookout for good class party games. I loved this idea - pumpkin bowling!
Just get one of those lightweight styro pumpkins from the craft store, and tape together some toilet paper rolls and make pumpkin faces on them!

We give Thanks!

First of all, let me start off this post by thanking you, our customers, our readers, our family, our friends. We thank God for you!

I am not going to be with my family for Thanksgiving this year. The first year in many years that I will not be. I am sad about that. But, I am very blessed that I have such wonderful friends and neighbors here in California. And, as it turns out, none of our close friends and neighbors will be with their families on Thanksgiving either. So, we are having a neighborhood family Thanksgiving this year. And that delights me! So, I have been surfing the web for some Thanksgiving traditions and ideas to incorporate into our Thanksgiving this year and I wanted to share them with you as well.

Here is an activity we plan to do with the kids... We will be making a Thanksgiving Blessings Snack Mix.

And the girls over at Blonde Designs Blog have provided a printable pdf file of the poem - thanks, Ladies!


In with the invitation you see above, I included these placecards (I added each person's name) with instructions for them to write down something they are thankful for and we will all share (even the kids) before dinner.


I love these napkin rings created by Jeanne Winters - stitched paper - totally simple and easy!


I am not sure that I am going to get around to creating these Cornucopias for the chair backs, but I do love them....

They totally don't look like they are made with paper plates covered with burlap, do they???

Olivia's 4th Birthday Party

Olivia decided awhile ago that she wanted a balloon themed birthday party. So, that is what she got!


You may have seen this post about the invitations with text designed by tomkatstudios.

The decor was easy - balloons everywhere! I used my display boards covered with fabric and the little baggies filled with round candies did double duty as decoration and as prizes for the games.




The first game was the balloon stomp. I printed out colored shapes on pieces of paper and stuffed them into balloons that we blew up. Then we threw them out into the yard and the kids stomped on them to pop them and try to find matches of the shapes.

Another game we played was "pin the nose on the clown".




After last year's cupcakes, I had to go for simple balloons of fondant on top of each cupcake.




Olivia's best friend, Mia.


Olivia invited her preschool teacher from last year, Ms. Tammy.


I found these great face stickers to make balloon faces as another activity.
