Happy Halloween

I love halloween! Love it, love it, love it! I decorate a little earlier every year. I just finished putting up all of my decorations this year. Last year, I put everything out and the Santa Ana winds picked up and blew my little faux pumpkins down the street with regularity, but I didn't care! I am sure they will do the same this year!

My witch sign is out front!

My entryway display is the same as last year...

My banner didn't survive being stored though the year. I am not sure what happened, but it got wet, so I had to print a new one.

If you want one of your own, visit one of my favorite blogs, Allsorts, and print out your own! Print it on cardstock and then cut it out, thread through your favorite ribbon or rickrack and you are all set!
Awesome, huh?

Expecting a baby? Great Party Idea!

* Disclaimer - We are not expecting any new Sweet Funky Vintage babies. Mom - you can relax!

I ran across this idea when I was hunting for birthday party ideas, and the idea was just to cute not to share! So, if you are expecting or know someone who is - how cut is this idea? I found the party on the Jack & Izzy blog.

This couple wanted to have fun with the reveal of the baby's gender, so they invited everyone to come dressed in either a pink or blue shirt, based on the gender they predicted.

And the reveal is fabulous! They baked a gumball the appropriate color inside cupcakes and had everyone take a bite at the same time to see what color the gumball was. Isn't that awesome?!

Great Website Alert!

I saw this website discussed today on CNN or FoxNews, can't remember which one. It looks like a great resource when you want to go out to dinner with the kids, but don't want to spend a fortune on their meals. You can search for restaurants in your area who offer kids meal specials.
Try it out! http://www.kidsmealdeals.com/

How great are these birds? I sooo want to get this for the girls. Just can't decide where I would put it!

No matter what your favorite dog breed might be, I bet you can find it here!

I have always been the HUGEST fan of Sarah Jane Studios! I actually own three of her prints - they hang in the girls' playroom. Such fabulous work!

More Party Ideas...

I have run across some uber-talented ladies today while scouring the internet for birthday party ideas. You may recall that I am planning for Olivia's birthday next month, she will be turning four, and really wants a ride in the big yellow balloon at the San Diego Wild Animal Park.

I haven't yet found a balloon themed party, but I have found some parties that are too stinkin' cute. Thought I'd share...

Are you familiar with Polkadots & Pirates? Jess is a party-ware designer, who has recently gone back to teaching elementary school. Her party planning schedule for 2009 is completely booked up, but she does have a waiting list for 2010 already - and it looks really full! I have to wonder why she hasn't given up the world of educating our future leaders, to make fabulous party-ware full time?! ;)
If you have the time, I recommend browsing her blog and checking out all of her fabulous parties, but the ice cream party is my top favorite, and I am thinking about trying to convince one of the girls to go for this theme - maybe Georgia's 7th birthday?

Anyway, check out her tablescape:

I love, love, love the use of all of the bright colored tubs. I am sooooo going to be on the look out for some of those. And the tags on everything are so brilliant and cute!

How about this one? Ice cream certainly leads to sticky hands, so the idea of putting out baby wipes - also brilliant! I wish her 2009 schedule wasn't already full!

And, the party favors? Inspired! A cute felt tote bag with personalized tags, filled with ice cream cones and a container of sprinkles - all they need to do is add ice-cream for an ice cream party of their own at home!

I have also found another ice-cream party buffet table - one of a more elegant sort, more suited to an adult party, but isn't it divine?

I discovered this party spread on the Eat Drink Chic blog - wowzers! And, the very best part, is that the blog post is filled with instructions on how to create your own! Complete with, printables - no kidding!! You can absolutely do this yourself with the tools she has provided!

I have more parties to share, but I will save those for another day!

Olivia's Family

Olivia painted a picture of her family today at preschool.
I am not sure where the chicken came from exactly...

On the hunt for good party ideas...

As I have two daughters with birthdays approaching this fall, I am on the hunt again for great birthday party inspirations. Olivia tells me that she wants a balloon themed party and insists that she will be going up in the hot air balloon ride they have at the San Diego Wild Animal Park.
I ran across this terrific party today on one of my absolute all-time favorite blogs, The Hostess with the Mostess. The posting is titled, "Audrey's Pink Birthday".
I love the idea of these big, round balloons. I wonder where to get those?

And what a great favor idea - and fairly simple to make!

At the inspiration party, they also have a great aluminum bucket filled with pink water balloons, but I am not sure that I am going to be able to do anything involving water balloons in October!!

More ideas coming soon...
